Background on updated privacy policy
On 25th May 2018, a new data privacy regulation came into force, known as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which superseded the Data Protection Act 1998. GDPR requires organisations to consider data they hold more closely, whether there is a requirement to hold the data at all and ensure robust security is in place for any Personal Data that organisations do hold.

As a result, we are providing this updated data privacy policy to communicate how we are adhering to this new regulation.

Under GDPR we have a number of lawful reasons that we can use (or 'process') your personal information. One of the lawful reasons is called 'legitimate interests'.

Broadly speaking Legitimate Interests means that we can process your personal information if: We have a genuine and legitimate reason and we are not harming any of your rights and interests.

So, what does this mean? When you provide your personal details to us we use your information for our legitimate business interests to assist with membership subscriptions and member updates. We only use individuals’ data in ways they would reasonably expect, unless we have a very good reason. We are not using people’s data in ways they would find intrusive or which could cause them harm, unless we have a very good reason.
